Some notes about StellaData...
MicroTexh StellaData isn't the choice of mine after too many hours with their less than stellar SW quality...
But if it's free, not so sure about that, and you want to waste some time with is so let it be done!
I didn't say it's useless...
It's in fact used here in Sweden at some basic level CNC educational shops...
Fiddling with it now...Last edited by RogerHq; 11-15-2012 at 01:50 AM. Reason: spellingErrors...

EMC2 is free, simple and has a backplot, so it meets your criteria.

I have used that CNC Simulator and after 30 days you have to 'Refuel' just to use it, which was always problematic and you have to be connected to the internet to use it as well which is stupid as, plus it was full of bugs with random crashing etc... not worth a pinch of shit.Originally Posted by caracadonThis site has been completely hacked. Calling LinuxCNC a free G-code editor with simulator is a bit peculiar.
It requires you to run it on Linux. The editor (gedit) does syntax highlighting (that is limited to the LinuxCNC-dialect, unless you edit the syntax description) but nothing more. The backplot is just the tool path, nothing more.
If you want a 'primitive' editor with syntax highlighting, use gedit. The current version doesn't work on MaxOS Maveriks. Just on Win and Linux. The syntax-plugin can be found at LinuxCNC somewhere.
Don't expect too much!
Just google for 'free CNC editor' and you will find a lot. All of hem, I have unistalled and still type in the code within LinuxCNC (or the Haas control).
